Job Role

A Heavy Diesel Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel engines and equipment in a port environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake fault diagnosis, repair and maintenance of Front-End Loaders, Excavators, LV fleet and other port equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure efficient workflow and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and participate in ongoing training and development programs to improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Suitable Trade Qualification or Certification.
  • Air-Conditioning Ticket (highly regarded but not mandatory).
  • Demonstrated working experience with heavy vehicles and heavy machinery.
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months validity) or ability to obtain one.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior experience in ports, heavy transport or mining environments.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people.
