About the Position

The Equipment Reliability Specialist is an essential contributor to the GFG Alliance's Newcastle Rod Mill Maintenance Reliability team. This position is pivotal in sustaining and enhancing operational reliability, concentrating on Condition Based Health Analysis of machinery throughout the facility utilizing methodologies such as Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, and Thermography.

The ideal candidate will significantly influence the development of Predictive Maintenance Asset Strategy by offering insights regarding Asset health. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee, execute, and refine predictive maintenance initiatives focused on vibration, lubrication, and thermography, including the upkeep of condition monitoring instruments and systems.
  • Organize and carry out CM data gathering and evaluation according to established timelines.
  • Document CM observations and promptly report any identified defects through the designated reporting system.
  • Propose corrective actions based on the analysis of condition monitoring data utilizing CMMS, such as SAP.
  • Foster relationships and deliver technical assistance to the maintenance and operations teams.
  • Execute maintenance strategies and programs, identifying areas for enhancement through the latest data analytics techniques.
  • Provide training and mentorship to teams on high-speed equipment balancing and laser alignment.

Candidate Profile

As our preferred candidate, you will possess strong analytical and technical capabilities, along with exceptional report writing and persuasive skills. Additionally, you should have:

  • A Mechanical or Electrical Trade qualification and/or a background in reliability engineering.
  • Prior experience in Condition Monitoring and lubrication.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Projects, and SAP or equivalent CMMS experience.
  • Familiarity with safety and risk assessment tools such as FMEA, Job Hazard Analysis, and Take 5's.
  • A readiness to work outside standard hours and respond to after-hours calls as necessitated by Plant Maintenance activities.

Essential Qualifications

  • ISO Vibration Analysis Category 2 (VCAT2) or higher certification.
  • Level 1 Thermography certification.
  • NDT Certification (DPI, MPI & UT).
  • MLA/MLT Certification (ICML) or equivalent.
  • Experience with SKF Vibration analysis and Condition Monitoring tools and systems.
