We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planning Expert to join our team at the City of Melbourne. As a key member of our planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement evidence-based strategic planning and policy to achieve Council's goals for the municipality's development.
  • Support the Planning Policy Manager in providing leadership, knowledge, and expertise.
  • Manage projects, portfolios of projects, and project teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes.
  • Develop the Melbourne Planning Scheme to achieve Council's urban development strategies and objectives.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in strategic urban planning or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing planning schemes, preferably in the Victorian system.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including negotiation, persuasion, and exercising discretion and judgment in a complex working environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-corporate and multi-organizational projects, with skills in policy and strategy development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities, with experience in developing creative solutions to complex problems.
