Job SummaryThis role involves collaborating with experienced professionals to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project civil/structural design work. You will produce 3D models, drawings, facilitate discussions, communicate complex technical issues, and prepare civil/structural design quantity estimates and work plans.
Your recommendations will ensure designs and work plans meet project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review design work within a small-size civil/structural design group on medium-sized projects.
- Produce models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with established design standards and scope requirements, including earthwork, drainage, road design, and concrete structures.
- Coordinate and interface with day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, and drafters as directed.
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
- FOLLOW ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT PROCEDURES (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs), and administrative practices.
- Coordinate with inter-discipline representatives (engineers, designers) to align and manage interfaces and overall design coordination.
- Review key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
- Mentor civil/structural designers and drafters by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Ensure civil/structural systems designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- 5 – 8 years of relevant work experience.
- Specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices.
- Extensive experience undertaking civil design and drafting using MicroStation and OpenRoads software.
- Experience in design and drafting and demonstrated skill in a lead role or recognized courses in directing personnel.
- Solid knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
- Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.

To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Your ability to adapt to changing priorities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
