Job Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to perform scheduled preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on heavy plant, trucks, asphalt pavers, profilers, and related equipment.

  • This role is critical in ensuring our machinery operates safely, reliably, and at peak performance, supporting the delivery of civil construction and asphalt projects.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and testing mechanical systems, hydraulic circuits, pneumatic systems, and engine performance to identify faults.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Scheduled preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on heavy plant, trucks, asphalt pavers, profilers, and related equipment
  2. Inspecting and testing mechanical systems, hydraulic circuits, pneumatic systems, and engine performance to identify faults
  3. Adjusting, modifying, and calibrating equipment and components to improve performance and ensure operational specifications are met
  4. Installing, assembling, and testing mechanical components and systems
  5. Preparing accurate maintenance records, technical reports, and parts requisitions
  6. Using precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to verify compliance with engineering and safety standards
  7. Working with supervisors and operators to identify performance issues and recommend practical solutions
  8. Maintaining the workshop, tools, and equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
  9. Ensuring all work complies with WHS, environmental, and quality requirements
  10. Sourcing and ordering replacement parts and materials to support timely repairs
Requirements:
  • A trade qualification as a Mechanical Engineering Technician, Fitter, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant, trucks, and specialised asphalt paving and profiling machinery
