Protecting Indigenous Children and Families Role

The role of a Caseworker is to support families in keeping their children safe at home.

This position requires an individual who is confident, curious, and resilient, with a passion for working with vulnerable children and their families.

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.

We seek applicants with relevant qualifications or at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with parents, family members, children or young people while maintaining sensitivity and respect.
  • Engaging in complex problem-solving with other agencies.
  • Assisting families in formulating goals that align with their needs, addressing safety concerns, and providing assistance through home visits.
  • Developing safety plans and completing risk assessments.
  • Managing high-risk cases and situations, including those involving clients with special needs.
  • Participating in court processes, including document preparation and attendance.
  • Receiving individual and group supervision.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to build positive relationships, and hold a valid driver's license.

Verification of Aboriginality is required, confirming the applicant is an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent and identifies as Aboriginal.

This opportunity includes a competitive salary from $87,315 - $113,562 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading, flexible work arrangements, and 17 weeks of training in the Caseworker Development Program.
