**Location**: Mount Martha, VIC
**Hours**: 4 hours per week (potential to increase )

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced **Mental Health Support Worker** to join our team in providing high-quality support to a participant living with depression and anxiety. This role requires someone who is confident in advocating for participants, building rapport, and providing consistent emotional support.

The participant is currently experiencing low mood and has been identified as a high suicide risk. They reside at home with family members, and part of the role involves maintaining calm, clear boundaries and de-escalating conflict when necessary.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide emotional reassurance and ongoing mental health support.
- Advocate for the participant’s needs with empathy and professionalism.
- Build a trusting relationship to reduce social isolation.
- Support the participant in developing coping strategies and structured routines.
- Assist with engagement in meaningful activities that promote recovery and wellness.
- Maintain professional boundaries while creating a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist in conflict resolution and promote positive family communication.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience working in mental health, including depression, anxiety, and suicide risk management.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills.
- Ability to de-escalate conflict and work calmly in challenging situations.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to participant wellbeing.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain).
- Qualifications in Mental Health, Support Work, or related field preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.

**Hours**:

- 4 hours per week to start, with potential for increased hours depending on funding.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $39.00 - $41.00 per hour
