Lead Treaty Advisor

This position requires a high level of expertise in Victorian Treaty processes, combined with strong knowledge of policy, program, and project management.
Main Responsibilities Include:- Providing strategic leadership in the Victorian Treaty negotiations on behalf of the department.
- Coordinating across the department and its portfolio agencies to deliver positions on statewide Treaty negotiations.
- Managing relationships with senior officials, including the Secretary and Ministers.
The successful candidate will have excellent negotiation and collaboration skills, knowledge of governance processes, and a commitment to the rights of First Peoples in Victoria.
Accountabilities- Developing Victorian Treaty content relevant to the department.
- Participating in whole-of-government processes.
- Engaging with stakeholders, including senior officials and Cabinet or relevant Cabinet Committees.
- Negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of governance processes.
- Commitment to the rights of First Peoples in Victoria.
A deep understanding of government, public administration, and decision-making within an evolving self-determination framework is essential. Effective stakeholder engagement and briefing skills are also necessary.
