About this Role

We're seeking a skilled technical ambassador to bridge the gap between our products and the developer community. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with effective communication skills to foster collaboration across organizational boundaries.

A typical day for this role might include:

  • Product Collaboration: Participating in team product meetings, contributing insight and expertise at levels from strategy to day-by-day development progress.
  • Community Engagement: Maintaining conversations with developer community members wherever they may be found - forums, social media, meet-ups and more.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with colleagues in other teams to help establish commonality and consistent approaches.
  • Tech Problem-Solving: Helping to solve specific technical problems that users or colleagues have identified.
  • Documentation Creation: Contributing to technical documentation to ensure that developer users' needs are met there.
  • Content Development: Working on technical articles, presentations or workshops.
  • Strategic Planning: Identifying new opportunities and directions for improvement in the developer experience we provide.
  • Public Presentations: Presenting at conferences, meetups or technical events.

Key Requirements

  • Technical Expertise: A strong background in programming and software development (including Linux packaging, containers, etc.).
  • Open-Source Experience: A history of contributing to open-source communities, software and documentation.
  • Communication Skills: An engaging speaker and presenter with the ability to work effectively, tactfully, empathetically and confidently in contexts where different parties have different perspectives, needs and understanding.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel globally twice a year for company events, as well as to upstream and partner events.
