Role Description

Laboratory Manager Position Overview

This is a critical leadership role within our laboratory team. As Laboratory Manager, you will play a vital part in ensuring the highest standards of operational and technical excellence are consistently met.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Daily management of laboratory operations;
  • Coordinating daily testing requirements for clients;
  • Mentoring and coaching staff to develop their testing skills;
  • Ensuring data integrity and validation of all filed and laboratory data;
  • Elevating lab quality systems and collaborating with QA professionals to meet regulatory requirements;
  • Preparing client details, project specifications, and submitting testing schedules via electronic systems;
  • Overseeing safe working conditions for team members and ensuring necessary personal protective equipment is worn on site and in the laboratory;
  • Sampling, testing, and reporting in accordance with specifications using appropriate test methods;
  • Preparation of test reports and generation of invoices;
  • Reviewing test reports with endorsement before approval and issue to clients;
  • Managing maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment;
  • Providing coaching and training to staff to achieve high operational, technical, and health and safety quality standards;
  • Participating in business development initiatives and liaising with senior management to identify new revenue streams;

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience in testing soils, aggregates, and concrete to relevant Australian and Vic Roads standards;
  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or Diploma/Degree-qualified;
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements;
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety compliance and responsibilities;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills involving research, analysis, and evaluation of information;
  • Australian Driver's license;
  • Current or eligible Nuclear gauge license.
