About the role
Reporting to the Division Support Officer, this role will oversee and enable a fit for purpose test and calibration operational facility in the Science Division, including guiding and upskilling lab users on lab safety, quality and culture. Your duties may include but are not limited to:
- Undertake and oversee management of laboratory operations, compliance, audit and safety programs
- Implement and manage programs to ensure compliance with laboratory standards, operating models, accreditations and regulatory requirements in a government environment.
- Undertake compliance checks, inspections and reporting for OHS and WHS legislation, regulations and policies
- Development, streamline and implement overarching policies and procedures for the operation of the laboratories
- Oversee and implement an overarching quality management system and conduct routine inspections, tests and audits documenting findings, recommendations and support in the implementation of corrective actions
- Plan and oversee the laboratory's budget, including purchases of equipment and supplies.
- Support the company's asset management, planning, registering, decommissioning, procurement and contract management where required
About you:
- A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in a Science related field is desirable
- Experience in operating a facility to laboratory safety and quality standards
- Experience leading a laboratory following ISO IEC 17025 is highly desired
- Advanced knowledge of implementing and using a Quality Management System is highly regarded
- A broad understanding of environmental regulations is desirable
- Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize across multiple competing demands
- Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team with a demonstrated commitment to the successful delivery of the highest organizational priorities
