About the Role

Latrobe City Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development Manager to lead our Business and Industry Development initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving positive change and fostering business capacity, economic diversity, and job creation within the local and regional economy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of business and industry development functions in alignment with the Council Plan.
  • Provide highly effective leadership, management, and coordination of Latrobe City Council's Business and Industry Development objectives.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and work collaboratively to support investment attraction and deliver business plan activities.
Requirements
  • A tertiary degree in a relevant field and diverse experience in both operational areas and management.
  • Extensive (5 or more years) experience in managing an economic development team or similar team.
  • Strong understanding of business development opportunities with the skills to pursue and secure these within the current economic and government environment.
  • Demonstrated relationships and high-level interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain strong networks with investors, businesses, Government representatives, Councillors, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing long-term strategies within the area of responsibility and subsequent budget and performance indicators to meet financial and corporate requirements.
  • Sound problem-solving skills at a strategic and organisational level and an ability to make decisions on all matters within the area of responsibility.
  • Relevant computer skills.
  • Current Victorian drivers' licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Postgraduate qualifications in business or management.
  • Relevant required experience within the government or corporate sectors.
