Role Overview

The Residential Support Mentor position plays a vital role in providing support to individuals living with an intellectual disability within their own homes. This challenging yet rewarding opportunity calls for a skilled Disability Support Worker who can embed best practice while delivering person-centred active support and positive behaviour support.

You will work alongside another support staff member to ensure the individual's human rights are safeguarded and that JDC Support's commitment to a zero tolerance framework for abuse and neglect is upheld.

  • Personal care support: toileting, showering, personal grooming, shaving, hair washing, personal hygiene as required on a daily basis.
  • Support in everyday independent living: working with the client on their ADLs, including diet and cooking experiences.
  • Positive Behaviour Support: delivering positive behaviour support in line with the client's positive behaviour support plan, while maintaining human rights, respect, and dignity at all times.

This is a casual ongoing position requiring flexibility for days rostered. Additional shifts become available after training and probationary period. Full training provided.

Key Selection Criteria:
  • Prior experience working in a residential home environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver positive behaviour support and implement behaviour support plans and strategies.
  • Working with clients with an intellectual disability who have complex behaviours and medical requirements.
  • Recognising and implementing full person-centred active support for continued learning and development.
