Job Overview

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team as an Intake and Connect Practitioner.

Job Description:

  • Provide a warm and welcoming initial interaction with individuals and families referred to us, ensuring a responsive and effective means of addressing trauma recovery needs.
  • Conduct client-centred, developmentally appropriate assessments to establish expectations, determine eligibility for service provision, and identify therapeutic goals.
  • Deliver short-term advocacy and psycho-education to support clients in their healing journey.
  • Build partnerships with family members, community members, and other agencies to facilitate collaborative care.
  • Manage risk and identify emerging trends within communities.
  • Ensure quality service delivery, including accountability to contractual and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in agency activities, such as staff meetings, professional development sessions, and supervision.
  • Support research and evaluation initiatives.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or Occupational Therapy, with eligibility for professional membership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including written and oral consultation, negotiation, and stakeholder liaison.
  • Minimum two years' experience in the human services sector, preferably working with people from refugee backgrounds.
  • Ability to quickly build trusting relationships and adapt practice to suit client needs.
  • Strong understanding of trauma recovery frameworks and attachment theories.
Working Conditions
  • Flexibility to work out of standard hours and travel to other locations as required.
  • Current Positive Notice Blue Card and recent federal police check.
  • Queensland C Class driver's licence.
