Position Overview

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a Senior Mining Engineer to lead our operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing medium to long term mine designs and schedules, as well as monitoring and reporting on production performance.

The main purpose of this position is to provide technical expertise to support the development of mine plans and schedules, while ensuring compliance with safety, legislative and statutory requirements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to maximise operational productivity and utilisation of equipment in schedules.
  • Prepare and communicate site physicals for annual budget and monthly forecast processes.
  • Provide detailed rolling medium term forecasts and budgets for the operation.
  • Communicate effectively with technical services, CHPP, maintenance and mine operations personnel in relation to deliverables for mid/long term schedules which would include; physical quantities, resource and utilisation requirements to deliver schedules and long term mine plans.
  • Assist and mentor other members of the technical services team as required, e.g. design, EOM process, and short term engineering challenges.
  • Ensure designs/schedules are compliant with the site SHMS, relevant statutory requirements, and legislation.
  • Actively report hazards and incidents.
  • Participate in safety investigations as required.
  • Always act in a safe manner.
  • Undertake project work as directed.

About You

Applicants should have experience in a similar role, ideally within the resources sector. Demonstrated experience as a Mining Engineer is essential, along with significant site experience in mine scheduling and design, rehabilitation design, haulage modelling, etc. Competent users of Vulcan, Deswik, Spry are also preferred.

  • Significant (~5yrs +) site experience in a mine operation, preferably in an open-cut coal mine.
  • Proven track record of contributing to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
