About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team at Sedgman. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for the successful execution of projects from initiation to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate and administer construction activities to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with plans, designs, and specifications.
  • Design Implementation: Interpret designs for implementation in the construction of projects.
  • Constructability Improvements: Contribute to constructability improvements for the design.
  • Contract Administration: Arrange and oversee the letting of supply or works contracts as required.
  • Cost Control: Provide cost control and forecasting support for nominated JDE cost codes and/or contract packages.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress for adherence to programme and report to Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Plant Design: Coordinate the plant design deliverables and interface with procurement or construction via the respective lead engineers.
  • Scheduling: Assist Planner, Senior Project Engineer, and/or the Project Manager to prepare schedules for the project.
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure that contract works 'packages' are engineered in accordance with standards set by both client and the company.
  • Contract Issuance: Timely issue of contracts/purchase orders and ensure that they comply with both the Head Contract and internal procedures.
  • Scope Variations: Ensure that all variations to scope and/or specifications are approved and documented.
  • Vendor Management: Ascertain the vendor documents are reviewed for approval on an urgent basis to avoid delays in the design and construction schedules.
  • Project Documentation: Set up and maintain orderly project directory files and ensure that schedules, drawings, and correspondence are recorded, stored, and distributed in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Problem Resolution: Refer any major problems during a project's duration to the Project Manager or relevant functional manager.
  • Site Meetings: Attend site meetings as required by the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Technical Queries: Raise, monitor, and close-out technical queries with the design team as required and in a timely manner.
Subcontractor Management
  • Work Assignment: Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards.
  • Technical Support: Assist in the resolution of technical queries from subcontractors.
  • Subcontractor Management: Ensure subcontract works are delivered safely, in accordance with the project schedule, and comply with the technical requirements of the project.
  • Payment Management: Ensure subcontractor payments are managed in accordance with the contract conditions.
Quality Management
  • Quality Process Development: Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system, ensuring that Sedgman quality standards are implemented on the project.
  • Quality Checks: Develop, review, and complete ITP's and checksheets to ensure compliance with the project quality requirements and processes.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary Education: Tertiary education in engineering or construction.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Project Experience: Minimum 3 years project experience from completion of graduate program or 5 years' project experience from graduation of tertiary education.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Skills in MS Office Suite and MS Project or Primavera P6.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
  • Mining Industry Experience: Mining industry construction experience.
  • Cost Control Experience: Experience in cost control, planning, JDE, and design activities.
  • Contracts Administration: Contracts administration exposure.
