Role Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with community partners and contribute to increasing electoral participation among First Nations people.

The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, as well as strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

AEC employees must be Australian citizens, and applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain and maintain a character clearance and security clearance for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support team leads in engaging with community partners to increase electoral participation among First Nations people.
  • Represent AEC views in various forums, including travelling to remote localities.
  • Maintain relationships both internally and externally, and collaborate with colleagues to achieve positive results.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages and information for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to contribute to activities and deliver results.
  • Relevant qualifications in Indigenous studies or community engagement/education.
