Job Title: Assurance Controls Manager

The Audit and Assurance Group is a branch within the department that manages auditors, competent across commodities. This team provides regulatory audits and assurance activities to manage compliance of registered establishments, industry Authorised Officers, and entities under Approved Arrangements.

The Regulatory Assurance Section performs assurance activities to provide confidence about how effectively and efficiently systems, activities, and measures manage regulatory risks and protect pest and disease-free status.

This role spearheads efforts to conduct control testing activities and generate reports evaluating existing controls' effectiveness in managing risks and achieving desired outcomes.

The Assurance Controls Manager will be responsible for designing verification activities to determine how well regulatory measures protect against pests and diseases, generating detailed reports highlighting gaps or weaknesses in controls, collaborating with others to design solutions addressing identified weaknesses, supporting data collection and analysis, maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks, building working relationships to gather information and evidence for assurance activities, preparing reports and advice for senior executives and governance committees, contributing to strategic priorities and associated governance, and participating in workshops.

This role may involve outdoor and office-based work, wearing protective equipment, complying with Work Health & Safety policies, and intra- and interstate travel may be required.

We are looking for someone with experience in a regulatory environment or assurance capacity, with knowledge of relevant legislation and policy frameworks highly desirable.
