Job Title: Water Project Officer
Job Summary:
The Water Project Officer will play a key role in the planning and delivery of water management and monitoring projects and initiatives while providing high-quality customer service and advice in response to water-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advice and customer service in response to enquiries, issues, and urgent matters relating to the management of water resources.
- Contribute to strategic planning processes and support the formulation of policy relevant to key water-related issues.
- Represent the SAAL region on committees, groups, and networks to ensure the region has access to current data, technology, directions, standards, tools, and information.
- Establish effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry groups, and the community.
- Support and administer water resource management programs/projects, from planning to evaluation, to achieve objectives and priorities.
- Manage delivery of field projects, including procurement of services and contract management in line with Board policy and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to implement team learning and improvement initiatives and commitment to ongoing development of professional knowledge and capability.
- Develop and support projects, activities, or initiatives that increase the awareness and/or participation of the community and industry in the identification or implementation of sustainable water resource management and adoption of best practice water management.
- Provide specific advice and recommendations on Water Affecting Activity Permit applications and the evaluation and continuous improvement of the permit process.
Requirements:
- Current class 'C' drivers license and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4WD.
- Intrastate and remote area travel is required, including travel in light aircraft.
- Demonstrates ability to work alone and be self-reliant.
- Some out-of-hours work is required, necessitating occasional overnight stays.
- Apply First Aid Certificate essential.
Working Arrangements:
The position is based in Adelaide with regular short trips to Port Augusta, with flexible working arrangements to be negotiated.
Security Clearance:
This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework.
