The Role

We are seeking a Program Officer to support the delivery of ecosystem restoration programs registered for carbon abatement. This role will work with suppliers, contractors, community representatives, and multiple business units across SA Water to achieve program outcomes.

The successful candidate will assist with the design and establishment of the program, implement leading land management approaches, and manage reporting requirements. This impactful role will contribute to leading environmental and social outcomes, addressing climate change through carbon sequestration, and re-creating functional ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Foster trust with our people, customers, and community by providing expert advice and service to communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy.
  • Support SA Water's biodiverse carbon planting program for high-quality outcomes.
  • Help manage opportunities and risks in ecosystem restoration.
  • Implement effective monitoring and evaluation for social, environmental, and financial results.
  • Assist in designing and delivering expert revegetation and vegetation management services.
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, procurement, and reporting.
  • Oversee land management strategies to combat threats like weeds, pests, fire, and drought.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Ecology, or Ecosystem Restoration.
  • Practical knowledge of ecosystem restoration and revegetation techniques, including plant identification and biodiversity management.
  • Proficiency in spatial analysis software like ArcPro for data monitoring and management.
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering excellent outcomes in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to operate equipment used in revegetation programs.
  • Understanding of carbon principles and accounting frameworks.
  • A current Australian driver's license.
