Facilities Engineer - Data Center Expert

The role of a Facilities Engineer in a data center involves overseeing and performing facilities engineering work, including alarm response, fault finding, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment related to controls, electrical, and mechanical systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance: Conduct regular checks and site inspections of the building and alarms.
  • Coordinate and lead preventative maintenance tasks and vendors, as well as repair and corrective maintenance efforts.
  • Lead complex infrastructure maintenance activities, including switching experience and certification.
  • Collaborate with team members on major repairs and develop procedures for their execution.
  • Perform critical switching activities.
  • Adhere to approved methods of procedure (MOPs) and create MOPs for approval.
  • Ensure incidents are escalated and handled according to protocols.
  • Provide support to other teams as needed.

Site Administration
  • Manage access control and security measures.
  • Verify the fire protection system is active and take necessary actions.
  • Maintain and coordinate site records to meet compliance requirements.
  • Attend vendor meetings to discuss services and address any issues.

Qualifications and Key Skills
  • Electrical or Engineering Degree with exposure/experience in data centers.
  • Strong teamwork mentality and willingness to learn and develop on the job.
  • Engineering mindset and extensive experience troubleshooting complex issues related to UPS, STS, LV, HV systems.
  • Sound knowledge of generators, chillers, and mechanical, BMS, and diesel propulsion systems and equipment would be beneficial.
  • High-voltage switching experience in a live environment.
