Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Engineer to join our team in Sydney. As a Technical Services Engineer, you will be responsible for providing exceptional technical support to our customers and partners, resolving complex issues, and advocating for their needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to customers and partners, resolving complex issues related to MongoDB and its ecosystem.
  • Advocate for customers' and partners' needs, working closely with our product management and development teams.
  • Contribute to internal projects, including software development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Work with top ISV partners to ensure excellence for our joint customers.
  • Mentor and ramp new team members, and take initiatives in building knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem.
Requirements
  • Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, etc.).
  • Experience managing large-scale databases (e.g., RDBMS or NoSQL).
  • Storage engineering experience, including NAS, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, and caching.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems.
  • Experience working with APIs and other application integration technologies.
  • Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the storage.
  • Ability to think on your feet, remain calm under pressure, and solve problems in real-time.
  • Desire and ability to rapidly learn a wide variety of new technical skills.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively among cross-functional teams (partner, sales, support, customer success, etc.).
  • Willingness and clarity of thoughts to work in ambiguous multi-party situations where motivations and incentives are sometimes misaligned.
  • General understanding of partner ecosystems.
Bonus Points
  • Experience in one or more programming languages developing applications using a NoSQL or SQL database.
  • Strong understanding of authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos, AD.
  • Experience using or managing MongoDB.
  • Experience using distributed version control systems, particularly git.
  • Experience using any cloud services stack such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems using vendor-specific Enterprise operators.
  • Experience in working software product teams, and familiarity with product release processes from planning to release.
Success Measures
  • In 3 months, you'll have gained a deep understanding of MongoDB and its partner ecosystem. You will complete New Hire Training.
  • In 6 months, you will be comfortable working frontline with our customers and partners. You will also complete the MongoDB Certified DBA Associate exam.
  • In 12 months, you will be a technical specialist within MongoDB and will be helping your peer engineers in advanced diagnostics. You will be encouraged to handle technical escalations independently.
