ING Australia is seeking a seasoned, customer-centric Insurance Portfolio Manager to join its Wealth Tribe within the Retail Bank. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for career advancement and professional growth.

You will be responsible for leading the General Insurance product suite, working closely with external business partners and internal stakeholders to deliver best-in-class products and services. Your focus will be on the customer lifecycle, from value proposition to retention, optimization of marketing, reporting, and customer experience, all contributing to portfolio profitability.

You will enjoy collaborating with business partners to manage daily operations, financial forecasting to support portfolio growth, and developing enhancements to continually improve the customer experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Represent the voice of the customer, driving customer acquisition and retention strategies, and end-to-end customer journeys, focusing on improving customer benefits and key moments of truth.
  • Manage insurance operations governance, working closely with the general insurance partner, including process monitoring, optimization, and service level management.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to formulate and execute integrated marketing plans, emphasizing digital channels.
  • Develop and implement Joint Business Plans with ING's general insurance partner.
  • Oversee and approve key insurance-related activities across the business, including process reviews, forms, T&Cs, collateral, product questions, exceptions, vendor SLAs, website updates, and legislative changes.
  • Report on risk events and mitigate product risks related to customers, insurance partners, and regulatory obligations across all aspects of risk (financial & non-financial).

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience managing General Insurance products (5+ years) with proven expertise in understanding, interpreting, and preparing financials for product enhancement, profitability monitoring, and delivering customer needs.
  • Proven experience in managing vendors and governance.
  • Risk management focus and knowledge of business controls and risk mitigation.
  • Up-to-date industry knowledge and competitor product awareness.
  • Experience reviewing and recommending product strategies.
  • Awareness of Agile methodologies and collaboration with technical squads.
