Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll processes and related administration to ensure smooth and efficient payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate and process weekly payroll, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate payroll data, prepare reports, and process salary adjustments, leave, and terminations.

  • Manage deductions, job costing allocations, superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Construction LSL.

  • Facilitate salary transfers, reconcile PAYG Payment Summaries, and ensure timely submission to the ATO.

  • Advise on payroll procedures, compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Resolve payroll issues, maintain accurate records, and liaise with management, employees, and HR/Finance teams.

Requirements:

  • 3 – 5 years' experience in a payroll position within a similar industry (preferably mining).

  • Strong knowledge of award and enterprise agreement interpretation.

  • In-depth understanding of payroll systems, procedures, statutory requirements, and accounting standards.

  • Experience with payroll software.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Knowledge of superannuation and workers' compensation legislation.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
