Family Violence Practitioner Role

The role of Family Violence Practitioner is a critical position that requires dedication and commitment to supporting women from migrant and refugee backgrounds who are experiencing family violence.

As a Family Violence Practitioner, you will work alongside victim survivors of family violence, providing individual case management and recovery support, as well as delivering group-based programs based on identified need and in line with the MARAM Framework.

Additionally, you will support work with men through the Motivation for Change (MFC) Program and associated services, delivering MFC case management and partner contact support services as applicable.

This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, their families and their communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual case management and recovery support to victim survivors of family violence.
  • Deliver group-based programs based on identified need and in line with the MARAM Framework.
  • Support work with men through the Motivation for Change (MFC) Program and associated services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and services to enhance service delivery.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification required for working within the Family Violence sector.
  • Ability to fluently speak in Vietnamese.
  • Demonstrated experience within the specialist family violence sector or working with those who have been impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence (telephone counselling advantageous).
  • Understanding of the specialist family violence sector in Victoria.
  • Understanding of contemporary family violence practice including the gendered nature of violence, social justice principles, crisis intervention and working with trauma.
