Parchment MS Special Education Teacher Job Summary

The Parchment Middle School Special Education Teacher will provide customized educational experiences to meet the needs of students on their caseload, while supporting the general curriculum.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Provide support to students in areas of academic and behavioral needs through differentiated instruction and interventions
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Monitor student progress and report to parents and administrators in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement instructional strategies that enhance student learning outcomes
  • Facilitate IEP meetings and other team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among educators and families
  • Utilize technology to enhance instruction, engagement, and data-driven decision making

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education certification
  • CPI training or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in administering assessments and documenting student observations to inform instruction and drive student growth
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse populations, including parents, teachers, and administrators

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Standard classroom setting with moderate to high noise levels depending on student population and activities
