Waverley Christian College is a forward thinking and culturally diverse Christian co-educational school from Kinder to Year 12. We have been providing students with a quality Christian educational experience for over 45 years. With campuses in Wantirna South and Narre Warren South, Waverley Christian College has an enrolment of over 2400 students with 400 staff across both campuses in 2024.

Our College is dedicated to fostering a culture of inclusion and celebrating diversity. Our Learning Enhancement and Program Support (LEAPS) Department provides learning enrichment and support for a wide range of students throughout the College, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring every student can access and participate in education alongside their peers. The team consists of Learning Support Coordinators (LSCs), Learning Support Teachers (LSTs) for both intervention and enrichment, and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs). The department collaborates with parents, teachers and other specialists to form a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting students and their learning needs.

Our Support Program of Applied Readiness for Community (SPARC) program sits within our LEAPS department. The SPARC program is an individualised program designed for students who have significant social and academic challenges within the mainstream classroom. A respect for individual difference is an implicit value in the SPARC program and reflects the Biblical foundation that we are uniquely created in the image of God.

We are currently seeking a part-time Special Education (SPARC) Program Coordinator. The SPARC Coordinator is responsible for the organisation, oversight, coordination, and management of the SPARC and Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) programs. We are looking for someone who embodies compassion, patience, and creativity, and who is organised and flexible. These are integral to ensure success in your role as you advocate for students who require additional support to facilitate their active participation in school, support teachers and Learning Support staff, and help families feel heard and connected to their child's education. Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students and their families.

The successful applicant could be:

  1. A qualified teacher and hold a current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) or
  2. Someone with an alternatively suitable background with significant experience in disability, schools with strong coordination capability.
  3. Have current First Aid qualifications and Anaphylaxis Certificate or be willing to obtain these prior to commencement.
  4. Have a passion for supporting students with disabilities.
  5. Be able to implement strategies and supports to help students succeed and feel included.
  6. Be able to collaborate with teachers, students, external providers and other learning support staff.
  7. Be able to show a commitment to the values and ethos of Christian education.
  8. Be willing to get involved in all aspects of the College's programs and opportunities.
  9. Have high level communication and interpersonal skills.
