Structures Technician Job Opportunity

This is a key position that involves the modification, repair, assembly, and installation of rocket structures.

The Structures Technician will work with tooling holes, pilot holes, or by hand to align parts and secure them in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps. They will check for good edge margins and alignment, shim and/or trim parts as required, and select drill bits, reamers, and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes.

The successful candidate will have experience drilling, reaming, honing, and/or countersinking straight and close tolerance holes. They will also be skilled in making basic layouts on parts or assemblies to establish reference points and check dimensions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Modification, repair, assembly, and installation of rocket structures.
  • Use of tooling holes, pilot holes, or by hand to align parts and secure them in place.
  • Check for good edge margins and alignment, shim and/or trim parts as required.
  • Select drill bits, reamers, and/or countersinking tools for pilot and full-size holes.
  • Drill, ream, countersink full-size holes in parts/assemblies, in proper sequence and to correct size.
  • Set countersinking tools to proper depth as required.
  • Disassemble parts and deburr holes using chip chasers, deburring tools, and files to prepare for installation of fasteners.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
  • Determine and obtain correct type and size fasteners.
  • Install fasteners in correct sequence per drawing, using correct tools.
Requirements:
  • Level 3 Trade qualification in Aerospace, Fitting, or similar trade.
  • 3+ years of experience ideally in the aerospace, manufacturing, marine, or automotive industry.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience gained through the military or within an aviation manufacturing company.
  • High-volume manufacturing experience.
  • Exceptional time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working efficiently in a team environment and a desire and willingness to assist other team members.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Commitment to health and safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and environmental management.
