Job Title: Regulatory Compliance Manager

Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Compliance Manager to lead the strategic management of compliance services, environmental health, and regulatory services. The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services, in accordance with relevant legislation and aligned to the City of Wagga Wagga's Community Strategic Plan.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in regulatory services management, compliance, or a related discipline, with proven experience in a similar leadership position. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain a positive team culture, effectively manage staff performance, and identify and nurture talent.

The Regulatory Compliance Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading the Regulatory City Compliance team to achieve the best organisational and community outcomes in relation to service delivery.
  • Managing the functional areas of the Regulatory City Compliance Division, including Environmental and Development Compliance Services, Environmental Health Services, Ranger and Regulatory Services, Animal Welfare and Shelter Services, Animal Management and Compliance, and Environmental Health, Regulatory and Companion Animal Education.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory responsibilities under various Acts, Regulations, Codes, and Standards, including policies, practices, and procedures, and licensing and statutory reporting.
  • Advising and recommending legal action resulting from legislative breaches, and overseeing evidence and affidavits for legal forums, briefing legal representatives, and making appearances in court as required.
  • Leading and delivering on council priority projects assigned to the Regulatory City Compliance Division.
  • Ensuring actions are consistent with Council's policies and plans, and proactively managing operational and service-related requests effectively, working across all relevant Council Directorates and Divisions to ensure communication is effective and the standards that Council require are met.
  • Driving and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to meet Council objectives and service delivery outcomes.
  • Supporting the Director by providing advice and reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring a rigorous approach to the expenditure and management of public funds in carrying out all activities on behalf of Council.
  • Ensuring the effective management of contracts relevant to the Division.
  • Attending and participating in Council, committee, and community meetings, workshops, and forums, including those held after hours, as required.

The successful candidate will be an experienced people leader who can inspire and lead a diverse team to deliver quality services. They will have a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance services functions and be able to work across all groups to enhance the City of Wagga Wagga's regulatory and compliance services functions.

What we offer:

  • Annual salary range of $120,000 to $142,000 (inclusive of 11.5% superannuation).
