About the Role

WorkSafe Victoria is seeking a skilled Media Officer to join its team. The successful candidate will assist in preparing and implementing strategies to promote a range of media campaigns and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of WorkSafe Victoria's media strategy.
  • Monitor print, electronic, and social media, providing media analysis to internal clients.
  • Respond to media inquiries, issues, and data requests, liaising with all levels of the organisation to ensure information is accurate and appropriate.
  • Research and write communication materials under the guidance of the Media Manager.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of WorkSafe Victoria's issues, events, and activities, ensuring key messages are consistent with the business objectives.
  • Liaise with government and external stakeholders on media activities, such as external media releases.
  • Respond to external stakeholders and media with high levels of complexity, uncertainty, and risk.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in, or closely with, news media is highly regarded.
  • Sound knowledge of the Victorian media landscape and media operations.
  • Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise work, and meet prescribed deadlines.
  • Close attention to detail and a passion for accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and develop strong working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under extreme time pressure with changing priorities.
