Rail Infrastructure Manager

About the Role
The Rail Infrastructure Manager is a key position within Boral, responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance of the company's rail infrastructure. This includes the management of major capital upgrades, stewardship of rail technical procedures, and the management and execution of the annual rail maintenance program.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and govern the annual rail upgrade and maintenance program for Boral.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operational managers and teams, and assist with all rail-related activities in the business, including review of safety interface agreements and preparation for site regulator audits.
- Liaise with contractors and manage contracts, including administration, change management, and invoicing.
- Prepare Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and source quotations, review prices and justification, and award works.
- Coordinate annual detailed inspections and patrol inspections by third-party providers and review resulting reports.
- Coordinate minor and major maintenance works, including preparation of scope and specification documentation, and cost estimates for capital expenditure requests.
- Submit proposals for capital funding as part of the capital budgeting process.
- Enable successful project management execution and delivery of rail maintenance and other capital projects to meet customer requirements and deliver business benefits.
- Continuously look to improve rail maintenance performance and results.
Requirements
- A solid understanding of rail freight operations, with experience dealing with the Rail Regulator and understanding of basic rail design and standards.
- Rail accreditations and rail safety inductions preferred.
- Qualifications in mechanical or structural engineering or a similar field.
- Contractor management experience.
- Familiarity with the heavy industry resources/construction industry.
- Exposure to relevant safety and project management legislation standards and methodologies.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
