About the Service

The Medicare Mental Health Services offer free support that does not require an appointment or referral. These services are available to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre.

The new services in Devonport and Burnie are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments to provide a streamlined approach to better mental health and social wellbeing.

This service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides peer-led recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre offers a safe environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to:

  • Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community

Role Overview

You will be the central point of communication, providing secretarial and reception services to people 18+. You will support clinical and management staff.

Your duties include:

  • Taking incoming calls and directing the caller to the appropriate member of staff
  • Appointment scheduling and maintenance of clients
  • General Office duties including opening and distribution of mail, typing, scanning, filing, and archiving
  • Assisting in the closing and securing of the building at the end of the day
  • General housekeeping
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Excellent administration skills
  • Well-developed customer service skills
  • Knowledge of the mental health sector
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proven record in working closely with a team
  • Previous Medical Reception experience would be advantageous
  • Proficient IT skills
