Job OverviewThe Commercial Analyst role is a critical part of our Performance & Expense Management team within Finance. This position involves significant stakeholder management, communication of complex business results, and creation of actionable insights to ensure a sustainable framework is maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Spearhead month-end reporting, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and other processes as necessary
- Ensure timely delivery in accordance with the Framework governing planning, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and analysis
- Provide support to Executives and Senior leaders to influence and direct expense and financial targets for TAL during target-setting
- Contribute to producing reporting against plan, including productivity and insights
- Offer commercial insight and advisory services on activities and performance using economic, financial, and industry information to understand vertical business performance
- Support financial review meetings with senior leaders to provide analysis, identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities, and suggest mitigation strategies
- Prioritize strategy formulation to deliver long-term financial performance
- Collaborate on short- and long-term enterprise planning, including stakeholder management during the planning cycle, coordinating inputs, and aligning vertical business lines with the long-term financial plan
- Assist with generating reports, inquiries, presentations, and analysis for Executives and the Board or Senior Management
- Influence teams to achieve development and transformation objectives
- Provide coaching and mentoring to co-op students and graduates within the Performance and Expense Management team
- A postgraduate qualification in finance or accounting
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in finance or insurance
- A relevant tertiary degree in accounting, finance, economics/commerce, or business
- Experience with Enterprise and BI systems
- Strong analytical skills
- Budgeting, planning, and forecasting experience
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Solid relationship/stakeholder management skills
- Excellent financial analytical skills and methodologies
- Excellent communication skills – oral communication, writing, and presentation skills
- Strong project management skills and ability to drive change and process improvements
- Excellent business partnering skills, working between vertical business line management and actuarial reporting teams
- Strong drive, resilience, professional curiosity, and problem-solving skills
- A willingness to collaborate and leverage TAL's supportive culture to continuously grow and develop
$80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience
