About the Role

We are seeking an experienced conservation land management practitioner to support our Kangaroo Island project in a range of conservation land management, asset and infrastructure programs. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering the day-to-day activities, including asset and infrastructure maintenance, and will require knowledge of and experience in the delivery of land management programs including feral animal control, weed and fire management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver conservation land management programs, including feral animal control, weed and fire management
  • Maintain and repair assets and infrastructure, including buildings, fencing, roads, and equipment
  • Operate a wide range of plant and equipment, including 4WDs, all-terrain vehicles, backhoes, tractors, and power tools
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders, including private landholders, land managers, scientists, students, volunteers, visitors, and government officials
  • Develop and implement asset and infrastructure maintenance programs
  • Conduct routine mechanical repairs to equipment and vehicles
  • Participate in ecological research and field techniques
Requirements
  • Relevant trade or TAFE qualification (desirable)
  • Practical experience in delivering on-ground results and a willingness to turn a hand to most tasks
  • Current valid Australian manual drivers license, with experience in 4WD/off-road conditions
  • Experience in operating agricultural machinery, such as tractors and backhoes (desirable)
  • Bushfire control training and experience (desirable)
  • Current first aid certificate, senior and/or remote first aid (desirable)
  • Firearms experience and current license (desirable)
  • National police clearance certificate
