Project Development Officer Role:

Capital facilities and infrastructure projects across the Defence estate are being delivered by us as an APS5 Project Officer within Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch (CFI), Infrastructure Division (ID), Security and Estate Group (SEG). Our goal is to ensure that its facilities and infrastructure are fit-for-purpose and effectively support Defence capability, including ships, vehicles and aircraft.

We achieve this by planning, developing and delivering projects that provide new and refurbished facilities and infrastructure. This includes wharves, airfields, roads, hangars, engineering services, living-in accommodation, working accommodation, and storage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Progress assigned projects with moderate supervision;\
  • Draft project plans;\
  • Assist in procuring and managing contractors using the Defence Infrastructure Panel and the Defence Suite of Facilities Contracts;\
  • Engage stakeholders, including industry, project sponsors, technical policy owners and users;\
  • Participate in project meetings, including Project Control Groups;\
  • Review contractor deliverables, including Monthly Reports;\
  • Prepare project documentation, including briefs and minutes;\
  • Progress projects through approval processes;\
  • Manage project finances, including paying invoices and raising purchase orders;\
  • Provide input into various reporting activities;\
  • Conduct general project administration activities, including drafting contract notices;\
  • Travel to site to participate in meetings, consult stakeholders, inspect existing facilities and infrastructure, and monitor construction progress.

Requirements: Strong written and verbal communication skills, resilience, ability to manage competing priorities, problem-solving skills, resourcefulness and flexibility to analyse and solve problems as they arise.
