About the Role:

This SEMH Teaching Assistant position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about providing support and guidance to young people with SEMH needs. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, manage challenging behaviour, and develop positive relationships with peers and teachers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour with a calm and proactive approach.
  • Help pupils access learning by adapting resources and strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
  • Build strong relationships with students based on trust and consistency.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to support plans and reviews.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or within an SEN setting.
  • A calm, patient, and supportive attitude with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
