Job Opportunity in Rheumatology

The Westmead Clinical School is a major contributor to the university's reputation and achievements in medicine and biosciences. It is located at Westmead Hospital, a major teaching hospital with 800 beds, serving a catchment population of 1.2 million people.

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader in rheumatology to contribute to the teaching and research in this specialty. The position will be based in the Rheumatology Department, Westmead Hospital, and at the Westmead Clinical School.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a clinical, translational or basic science research program relevant to rheumatology.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and promotion of educational programs for medical students relating to rheumatology.
  • Provide clinical care as part of the healthcare team in the Specialty of Rheumatology.
  • Promote a culture that is collaborative, team-oriented, and respects the skill sets and opinions of all staff.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in a field relevant to rheumatology.
  • Registration as a medical practitioner in NSW with recognition by AHPRA as a Specialist Rheumatologist and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, or equivalent.
  • An emerging national/international reputation and research track record, including publications in peer-reviewed international journals and success in obtaining research funding and supervision of research students.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives within rheumatology.
  • A network of relationships with key academic and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders that can enhance the standing of the specialty, hospital/school/faculty, and university.
