Description:

This role offers variety, ownership and the chance to shape best-practice automation from end to end. From developing code and designing control systems to supporting customers onsite and identifying improvement opportunities, you'll have the autonomy to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automation systems for diverse industries – from electrical and controls integration through to software deployment and commissioning.
  • Solve complex challenges: Use your problem-solving skills and technical expertise to troubleshoot automation issues, working closely with customers and internal teams to deliver timely, high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work with design and project engineers, fitters, service technicians and stakeholders to ensure systems are delivered on time, on spec and within budget.
  • Ensure quality and safety: Maintain clear, accurate technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement, adhering to relevant safety, regulatory and company standards.
  • Stay up-to-date and share knowledge: Keep current with industry trends and support internal teams with training, support and mentoring when required.
  • Provide out-of-hours support: Be part of our automation support roster, offering remote assistance to customers when needed.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or related field and 5+ years' relevant industry experience
  • Experience delivering automation projects in a packaging or manufacturing environment
  • Proven skills in PLC/HMI development and programming
  • Programming for Rockwell and ABB is essential. Programming for Siemens is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of control systems, software, electrical schematics and safety integration
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commitment to high standards of quality, compliance and documentation
  • Experience with customer commissioning and field support is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with relevant standards, including ISO and WHS requirements
