Make a positive impact on vulnerable communities by joining our team as a Community Outreach Officer.
In this role, you will be supporting refugee communities in Wagga Wagga through community development work and coordinating group programs.

About the Role

The position involves undertaking community development work and coordinating STARTTS group programs to support the local refugee population.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Community Development Work: Engage with refugee communities to develop and implement projects that enhance their social connections and economic opportunities.
  • STARTTS Group Programs: Coordinate and facilitate group programs for refugees, promoting social cohesion and emotional well-being.
  • School and Youth Engagement: Collaborate with schools and youth services to provide targeted support and promote social inclusion.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the effects of trauma and torture on individuals and communities;
  • Bilingual skills in a language relevant to the local refugee population;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills;
