Strategic Planner

Job Description:

We seek an experienced professional to lead the efficient operation of our Department's growth area planning and subdivision teams.

This role involves coordinating system changes, leading cross-functional teams, and providing leadership and supervision to staff.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of community expectations in growth, interface, and rural communities.

They will possess proven leadership, supervision, motivation, and team development skills, as well as strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve efficient, effective, and customer-focused outcomes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to plan and deliver projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Provide regular performance monitoring and feedback to staff, identifying training needs and implementing appropriate programs.
  • Guide staff on business processes and systems related to statutory planning and growth areas.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and provide regular performance feedback.
  • Represent the organization at forums and events as required.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Senior-level experience in statutory and growth area planning within government or planning consultancy.
  • Proven leadership and supervision skills, with a strong focus on team development and motivation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and workload complexity.
  • Experience with process review and change implementation.
