Established in 2023, the Department of Government Services is dedicated to streamlining services for Victorians and businesses. As a Cyber Assurance and Risk Management Lead, you will support the Victorian Government Chief Information Security Officer and Executive Director, Data and Digital Resilience in uplifting cyber security across the Victorian Public Sector.

The role involves leading programs of work to measure cyber security maturity across cloud and corporate environments, understanding third-party risk, and supporting uplift across other cyber security domains. Key accountabilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and managing a range of cyber risk and assurance projects under the Victorian Government Cyber Strategy, including the Victorian Government Cyber Maturity Benchmark with a focus on the Essential 8 Maturity Model.
  • Providing strategic advice on the development and delivery of cyber assurance programs to inform the development and delivery of Victorian government cyber risk management programs.
  • Initiating, building, and maintaining collaborative relationships with various government stakeholders, including operational, policy, and risk management experts.
  • Preparing and presenting high-quality, evidence-based reports, briefs, business cases, and security policy relating to cyber security assurance and reporting programs.

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • An ability to produce high-quality risk artefacts, including risk assessments.
  • Providing advice on cyber risk and assurance models, frameworks, and practices.
  • Communicating effectively and building strong relationships across government at all levels to deliver on the WoVG digital and cyber transformation agenda.
  • Prioritizing work and responding to issues quickly.

This position requires relevant rights to work in Australia and the ability to successfully acquire and maintain a NV1 level security clearance (Australian citizenship). Knowledge of Cyber and Information Security Frameworks, including the Essential 8, Victorian Protective Data Security Framework, the Information Security Manual, and ISO 27001, is also desirable. Experience in evidence gathering, audits, or other assurance programs is essential.

We offer a salary package that includes an estimated annual salary of $120,000 - $180,000 based on location and experience. This role is open to applicants with extended access to the Jobs and Skills Exchange.
