About the Role

The Disability Support Worker - Casual Position is a key role within the Orange City Council's Disability Services team. As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing support to individuals with disability in line with the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Standards and funding objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and support clients to explore and develop their personal interests and hobbies.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and support clients in decision-making processes to achieve their individual goals and aspirations.
  • Assist with independent living skills, personal care, and activities of daily living.
  • Administer medication and implement individual-based support plans.
  • Complete clear, factual, and concise written documentation and electronic reporting.
  • Provide personal care, such as toileting, showering, and preparing meals in line with individual mealtime management plans.
  • Help clients engage with their local communities and cultural services through community participation programs and recreational activities.
  • Support children with disability in afterschool care and vacation care settings.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and caring for people with a broad range of support needs relating to disability.
  • Passion for the support and wellbeing of people with disability.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Empathy and a caring nature.
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
  • Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) certificate.
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check Clearance (if working with OSHC).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Verification (or ability to obtain before starting).
