About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team in Australia. This is a 12-month contract role that will play a critical part in ensuring the success of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and resolve potential system problems, taking ownership of issues through to resolution;
  • Diagnose problems, define and coordinate the implementation of solutions; and engage other IT groups or external parties where required;
  • Develop, maintain and document database backup strategies to ensure continuity and reliability;
  • Review database schemas (e.g. tables, indexes, packages, procedures) to ensure appropriate standards are met;
  • Responsible for the necessary actions to ensure auditable procedures for application and database server resource management are produced and appropriately maintained;
  • Perform routine database failover testing to ensure standby systems are correctly configured;
  • Ensure prioritisation criteria are applied so that the most critical problems are resolved first;
  • Investigate escalated and reported problems, and provide resolutions in an effective and timely manner;
About You

We are looking for someone with tertiary qualifications in relevant IT disciplines and industry-recognised certifications in technical competencies relevant for this role. You will have at least 5 years' experience in all aspects of Oracle & SQL Server Database Management and Administration, including capacity management, backup and recovery, system redundancy and disaster recovery implementation, performance optimisation and tuning.

You should be experienced with the Oracle database technologies, including RAC, OID, RMAN, GRID, as well as Microsoft SQL technologies, including SQL Reporting Services, SQL Analysis services. Experience in Linux and Windows Operating Systems and various scripting languages (SQL query, Shell, Perl) is also essential.
