Technical Database Administrator Role

We are seeking a highly skilled technical database administrator to join our team in Australia. This is a permanent position with an estimated salary range of $110,000 - $140,000 AUD per year.

About the Role

This technical database administrator role is responsible for providing high-quality technical support and problem resolution for business-critical data, databases, and database servers within the Oceania business. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and resolving potential system problems, taking ownership through to resolution;
  • Diagnosing problems, defining, and coordinating the implementation of solutions;
  • Developing, maintaining, and documenting database backup strategies to ensure continuity and reliability;
  • Reviewing database schemas to ensure standards are met;
  • Ensuring auditable procedures for application and database server resource management are produced and maintained;
  • Performing routine database failover testing to ensure standby systems are correctly configured;

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant IT disciplines;
  • IT industry-recognised certifications in technical competencies relevant to this role;
  • 5+ years' experience in all aspects of Oracle & SQL Server Database Management and Administration;
  • Experience with Oracle database technologies, including RAC, OID, RMAN, GRID;
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL technologies, including SQL Reporting Services, SQL Analysis services;
  • Experience in Linux and Windows Operating Systems;
  • Experience in scripting languages (SQL query, Shell, Perl);
