Maintenance Officer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Officer to join our Property Team.

This hands-on role is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, repairs, and maintenance of residential and commercial properties across Metro Sydney.

The successful candidate will carry out routine maintenance tasks, minor repairs, and support broader property operations.

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, plastering, and painting.
  • Inspect properties to ensure safety, compliance, and presentation standards.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment, completing required safety documentation (JSA/SWMS).
  • Assist with the coordination of external contractors.
  • Support the Property Coordinator and Service Desk Officers in maintaining the property portfolio.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning.

Key qualifications include:

  • A qualified trade background (carpentry, plastering, or general building preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in property maintenance and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to assess maintenance issues, prioritise tasks, and work independently.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and awareness of issues affecting Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
