In Australia, we provide MRO support to the P-8 Poseidon aircraft and C-J Hercules transports for the Royal Australian Air Force's (RAAF) and 22 ARH Tiger armed reconnaissance helicopters for the Australian Army.
This presence has made a direct contribution to the local economies, built regional aerospace capabilities and created high-value jobs in the aviation industry.
Airbus also operates an MRO business for rotary and fixed wing military aircraft in New Zealand.
Our salary for this role is approximately $120,000 per annum.
The opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures Specialist to join our team in Darwin (Robertson Barracks).
Your skills, experience and knowledge will be utilised to undertake aviation maintenance activities to meet the needs of Airbus Australia Pacific (AAP) and their customers.
You will execute maintenance within the bounds of the authority level delegated by the relevant Responsible Manager.
Working within the AAP Maintenance Function, you are required to conduct maintenance in accordance with the relevant regulations, Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE) (or equivalent) and all other maintenance procedures as laid out within authorised AAP procedures, relevant aircraft maintenance manuals and Defence documentation.
This position reports to Team Lead Component Deeper Maintenance, through respective Aircraft Technical Leads, responsible for all ARH Structural maintenance activities undertaken by the Darwin Maintenance teams.
Darwin Structure AME's are primarily responsible for performing ARH Deeper Maintenance activities while also conducting Off aircraft maintenance and supporting operational units in Industry specific tasks, such as advanced structure repairs, aircraft and component modifications.

The skills and experience suited to this role:
- Diploma Aeroskills (Structures) or equivalent issued by a Registered Training Organisation
- High-Level aviation airworthiness regulatory knowledge and it's applicability in the relevant environment
- Understanding of relevant aircraft maintenance documentation and practices
- Experience in an Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) environment
- Knowledge of and experience using Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP)
- Have obtained, in the judgement of the relevant Responsible Manager and the Company, sufficient experience on type to support a successful application for maintenance task authorisation at the appropriate level
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction
The following experience would also be beneficial (however not mandatory):
- Knowledge of and experience using CAMM2
- Knowledge and experience in complex composite repairs including Carbon Composites
- Defence ARH Type rating Military Aircraft Maintenance Licence B1.3 with Structures inclusion
You must be eligible for an Australian Government Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance and have the capacity to satisfy pre-employment medical screening which may include drug and alcohol testing.
