The Roster and Train Staff Officer ensures fair allocation of shifts, compliance with staff qualifications, and efficient use of resources while balancing client needs and workforce availability.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop accurate rosters for all programs, ensuring timely deployment and minimal cancellations.
  • Manage unplanned absences, late-notice changes, and emergency shift coverage, prioritising participant needs.
  • Forecast rostering needs based on client growth, leave schedules, and service changes, ensuring seamless delivery.
  • Allocate shifts fairly, matching staff skills, compliance status, and client requirements, promoting work-life balance.
  • Ensure compliance with SCHADS Award rostering rules, preventing over-reliance on specific staff.
  • Act as the main contact for rostering enquiries from staff, participants, and families, providing timely communication of roster changes and confirmations.
Performance Objectives:
  • Maintain >95% coverage of all planned shifts.
  • 100% of rostered staff must meet compliance requirements.
  • Reduce last-minute cancellations and unfilled shifts.
  • Balanced distribution of shifts across the workforce.
  • Accurate and up-to-date rostering documentation at all times.
Requirements:
  • Experience in rostering or workforce management (NDIS, healthcare, or aged/disability services preferred).
  • Strong understanding of SCHADS Award rostering requirements.
  • Proficiency in rostering software (ShiftCare or similar).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and problem-solve in real time.
