We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Consultant to join our collaborative team in the Outreach Service. As a key member of our team, you will work in a self-directed manner to provide high-quality consultancy, coaching, and professional learning to regional and school communities in the area of speech, language, and literacy development.
About the Role:This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Speech and Language Consultant to make a real difference in the lives of students with speech, language, and literacy difficulties and disorders. You will be responsible for providing specialist speech, language, and literacy support to educators, developing and implementing effective programs to meet the needs of students, and collaborating with schools and external service providers to ensure seamless delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement evidence-based speech, language, and literacy programs for students with speech, language, and literacy difficulties and disorders
- Provide specialist speech, language, and literacy support to educators through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning opportunities
- Collaborate with schools and external service providers to develop and deliver integrated services that meet the needs of students and families
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and resources that promote best practice in speech, language, and literacy education
- Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience in speech, language, and literacy within the context of Western Australia's public education system and operations at a school level
- Demonstrated highly developed research, conceptual, and analytical skills, including the ability to use data to effectively inform change and generate innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems in the areas of speech, language, and literacy
- Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed manner to provide specialist speech, language, and literacy support to educators
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing speech, language, and literacy programs for students with speech, language, and literacy difficulties and disorders
- Demonstrated highly developed oral and written communication skills, including considerable experience in developing and effectively facilitating professional learning
- Demonstrated highly developed negotiation, consultation, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with a range of people across settings
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting
