Role Overview

The Cloud Infrastructure Optimization Strategist will play a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses. This includes Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a Team of Experts

Lead a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Control System professionals supporting Microsoft's online services.

Optimize Datacenter Operations

Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in our Datacenters, maximizing Critical Environment (CE) availability to ensure optimal operational efficiency.

Reduce Incidents and Improve Efficiency

Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) incidents year over year, while delivering on cost/energy efficiency initiatives.

Enhance Reporting and Analysis

Ensure routine reporting to effectively manage and analyze our Power/Temperature/Relative Humidity, and SLA monitoring.

Establish Strong Relationships

Establish and enhance strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs), and business partners.

Share Best Practices

Work with regional and global peers to share and build best practices across the entire datacenter portfolio.

Requirements
  • A strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering, with experience in datacenter operations and management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with datacenter design and operations, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.
Estimated Salary

Australia, Sydney: AU$140,000 - AU$180,000 per year, depending on experience.
