Job Overview

This role is for a Product Development Manager to join our high-performing buying team in the Woven Tops department. Your main responsibility will be to design and develop commercial products that meet seasonal trends and direction, ensuring revenue and gross profit targets are achieved.

You will report directly to the Merchandise Manager and be based at our Support Office on St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute product ranges from inception
  • Manage garment development processes, including selecting fabrics, trims, blocks, colours, and washes
  • Create buying plans that engage customers
  • Benchmark competitors to continually inspect and optimize our product range
  • Research trends, product innovation, and competitors
  • Negotiate with suppliers to deliver value for money, quality products that achieve margin targets
  • Liaise with direct suppliers across multiple countries
  • Oversee the critical path and production plan
  • Achieve budgeted sales and margins through continuous performance review and market opportunity analysis

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in buying and product development within womenswear
  • Experience in woven and knitwear categories is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to manage production and critical paths
  • Experience dealing with direct vendors across multiple geographies
  • Ability to work using open costing models and attention to detail
  • Commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strategic planning capabilities and critical path management expertise
  • Proven leadership and team management skills
  • Confidence in understanding budgets and margin calculations
  • Adaptable approach with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
